"It is said we have seven universal emotions, and 93 percent of them are conveyed through our body language," says Gienger-Stanfield. "I like this communication. The figure is so expressive, and we love to look at ourselves."
Ilene is a painter who is primarily known for her colorful and spontaneous style. Climbing the ladder to recognition, in a world of abundant accomplished painters, she has taken awards at national and international levels. Recently she was privileged to be the juror for the 11th Annual Pastel Journal Competition and exhibited in New York at the Allied Artist's of America.
Ilene's most current collection "Counter Clockwise" is reminiscent of the 1900's through the 1950's and the viewer is implored to imagine the stories behind the lives of those in the paintings. Images as diverse as boys in faded blue overalls to a young
woman taking on everyday chores evoke imaginative narratives, which seem to
look back to the decades past with the fresh eye and confident handling of a
thoroughly modern artist.
"Ilene's paintings are not sentimental but they are optimistic."
Gienger-Stanfield's custom framing uses museum glass in a tasteful frame which enhances the image leaving an elegant and sophisticated painting. Her mediums are oils or pastels.
The time being taken to peruse Ilene's web site is appreciated. Enjoy the paintings and check out upcoming workshops and events.
Wishing you well.
